Sawantwadi Garam Masala by Neeta Shirodkar
A robust blend from the royal family of Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra. Hand pounded by Neeta Shirodkar, the Sawantwadi Garam Masala is a perfect blend of a heritage and time-tested recipe.
Key Ingredients include: Red Chillies, Coriander Seeds, Cumin, Black Pepper, Khuskhus, Cinnamon, Cloves, Shahe Jeera, Badiyan, Mace, Fenugreek Seeds, Bayleaf, Nagkeshar, Masala Elaichi, Asafoetida, Turmeric, Nutmeg
Recipe - Sauté sliced onion in ghee to a brown color. Add coconut & cook till brown. Let cool & grind into paste. Heat remaining oil in a pot & add chopped onion. Sauté to pinkish. Add ginger garlic paste & Sawantwadi Garam Masala. Sauté well. Add chopped tomato (opt) & sauté. Add turmeric powder, meat/vegetables & salt. Mix well for 5 min until masala coats meat/veg. Add sufficient water and cook. When nearly done, add the ground ginger & garlic paste & boil. Garnish & serve w/ rice or bread.
